Bahraini MP Hanan Mohamed Fardan has raised a series of probing questions to Minister of Social Development Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor about the conduct of mass weddings and potential violations within charitable associations operating in Bahrain.
Ms. Fardan, who represents the 12th constituency of the Northern Governorate, sought clarity on the number of active associations involved in organising mass weddings in the country. Additionally, she inquired about the ministry’s requirements for associations seeking to host such events.
The MP’s questions underscored concerns about potential obstacles and impediments faced by these associations in carrying out their mission. Furthermore, Fardan questioned the accuracy of a ministry circular that, according to her, verbally imposed a ban on charities organising group weddings.
She delved into the mechanisms employed by the ministry to monitor and verify reports from financial and literary associations and the reasons for the actions taken against associations. She also sought detailed information on violations and transgressions observed by the ministry and inquired about supervisory tasks.
