Bahrain welcomes US Secretary of State

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s constant keenness to strengthen its strategic partnership with the US, adding that it is looking forward to further bolstering joint cooperation to achieve the interests of the two countries and their peoples.

HM the King expressed Bahrain’s pride in its long-standing relations and robust partnership with the US, spanning a long history of mutual understanding, as well as joint cooperation and coordination, in a way that serves their shared interests at all levels.

His Majesty was speaking as he received at Al-Safriya Palace yesterday, in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), and several officials, the US Secretary of State, His Excellency Antony Blinken, who is on a visit to the kingdom, as part of his current regional tour that has covered many countries.

HM King Hamad welcomed Sec. Blinken and reviewed with him ways to develop Bahrain-US relations, as well as consolidate bilateral cooperation and joint action across various fields.

The meeting also focused on the latest regional and global developments, in addition to the situation in the Middle East region, including the Gaza Strip. HM King Hamad emphasised the need to reach a ceasefire, protect civilians, release hostages and detainees, as well as ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, in accordance with International Humanitarian Law, and prevent their displacement.

Concrete measures Sec. Blinken affirmed his country’s support for taking concrete measures to establish a Palestinian State, stressing his rejection of forced displacement of the Palestinians, whether in Gaza or the West Bank. His Majesty and the US top diplomat also stressed the importance of creating comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East region.
