The Ministry of Health carried out 503 inspection campaigns against mosquitoes across all governorates in the Kingdom within a span of nine days, according to our sister paper Al Ayyam.
The campaigns focused on eliminating breeding sites and treating areas prone to mosquito infestation, such as water drainage holes, sewage pipes, and stagnant water sources.
Citizens were advised to take personal precautions, including covering water storage containers and using topical insect repellent.
The Northern Governorate witnessed the highest number of campaigns with 182, followed by 126 campaigns in the Muharraq Governorate, 111 campaigns in the Capital Governorate, and 84 campaigns in the Southern Governorate.
The focus of these spraying campaigns was on areas such as water drainage holes, sewage pipes, stagnant water sources, car tires, rain drains, as well as artificial mosquito hotspots within homes, including fountains, swimming pools, plant pots, and animal waterers.
The Ministry’s efforts aim to educate and guide individuals in combating the spread of mosquitoes during the winter season, when their activity is most prevalent.
