Bahrain King ratifies affordable-housing law for citizens

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa ratified and promulgated Law (1) of 2024, amending Article (1) of Decree-Law (10) of 1976 regarding housing, following the approval of the Shura and Representative councils.
The text of Article (1) of Decree Law No. (10) of 1976 regarding housing shall be replaced with the following text: “The Ministry of Housing is responsible for providing housing for citizens with limited income by providing the following services: Obtaining a residence through ownership or rent; financing the purchase, construction or renovation of a residence; and obtaining a housing unit.”
This shall be through any of the housing programmes provided by the Ministry. The Minister of Housing may include any other services aimed at providing housing for citizens with limited income.” The Prime Minister and the ministers - each in their capacity - shall implement the provisions of this law, and it will come into effect the day following the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
