The Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to developing a cultural and urban environment based on the principles of sustainability.
This was emphasised by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President, His Excellency Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, as he received Dr. Fernanda Leonardoni, Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme.
Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah noted the importance of strengthening cooperation mechanisms with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme.
During the meeting, consolidating the prospects for joint cooperation was discussed, especially related to strengthening cultural infrastructure and striving to achieve a sustainable and comprehensive future in the Kingdom within the framework of supporting sustainability efforts.
Dr. Leonardoni expressed her admiration for the efforts of Bahrain, which constitute a role model in developing and developing cultural infrastructure.
The meeting is an important step towards strengthening relations between Bahrain and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, and opens new horizons for achieving sustainable development in the region.
