Historic 50-year Bahrain and Turkey ties praised

Council of Representatives Speaker, His Excellency Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, praised the historic Bahraini-Turkish relations, which extend for more than 50 years.

He noted their development in light of the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Speaker Al Musallam was speaking following a joint parliamentary meeting he cochaired with Professor Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

He affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to continue strengthening cooperation at various levels through the exchange of visits, agreements, memorandums of understanding, and various development projects.

Al Musallam underscored the role of parliamentary diplomacy in developing bilateral relations, devoting efforts to exploring new investment opportunities, enhancing cooperation between the two chambers and General Secretariats, and affirming the two countries’ stances at Asian, Islamic, and international forums.

He expressed his appreciation towards Turkey’s support of the Palestinian cause, underscoring Bahrain’s firm stance in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution. Professor Kurtulmus affirmed the close historic relations between Bahrain and Turkey, which enjoy the care of the two countries’ leadership.
