Bahrain imprisons 49 illegal workers, deports 162

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has carried out 1,002 inspection campaigns and visits during the week of January 21–27, detaining 49 violating and irregular workers.
A total of 162 violators were also deported from Bahrain. The campaign also resulted in the monitoring of a number of violations related to the provisions of regulating laws, especially the LMRA and the Residency Laws in Bahrain, noting that legal measures were taken regarding the observed violations.
The Authority explained that 986 inspection visits were carried out on various shops in all governorates, in addition to 16 joint inspection campaigns that included eight campaigns in the Capital Governorate, four in the Muharraq Governorate, two in the Northern Governorate, and two in the Southern Governorate.
The government entities that participated in the campaigns are the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Evidence, the Sentence Enforcement Directorate, as well as the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).
