The American Women’s Association (AWA) in Bahrain is preparing to hold a captivating event that emphasizes inclusivity and generates funds for charities within the local community.
Known as the Cherry Tree Trot (CTT), this event is AWA’s largest biennial fundraiser and is scheduled to occur on February 10 at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sahkir. The Cherry Tree Trot, which has been running since 1981, brings together both able-bodied and challenged individuals for a day of fun-filled activities.
The event serves as an opportunity to support the 30+ centres sponsored by AWA, with 100 percent of the funds raised during CTT being distributed locally. The opening ceremony, scheduled for 9.30 am, will be graced by esteemed guests, including the Minister of Labour and Social Development and the US Ambassador.
Activities
Participants in the event can look forward to a range of activities starting at 8 am and concluding at 2 pm. The AWA’s efforts in organising this event have consistently helped raise around BD30,000, which goes towards supporting the sponsored centres for the following two years.
The American Women’s Association (AWA) Bahrain, operating under the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, is a membership-based non-profit organisation. Individuals interested in becoming members of AWA must be residents of Bahrain and possess a valid Bahraini CPR.
Fees
The annual membership fee for 2024 is BD60, with a discounted fee of BD55 applicable for US military spouses. For those joining after the summer break, membership is valid from September 1 to December 31 and costs BD30, or BD25 for US military spouses.
Non-members are welcome to attend AWA’s meetings as guests, with a fee of BD10 for the general meeting and BD3 for the coffee morning per visit. Members can attend any meeting or activity, except for special activities or events that may require pre-signing and a small fee.
