Southern Governorate holds clean-up drive in wilderness areas

A clean-up campaign, under the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate, has been launched in partnership with the Southern Municipality.

This initiative aims to preserve the wilderness and promote environmental consciousness among students from Al Riffa Views International School.

Dubbed “Preserving Our Wilderness,” the campaign focuses on the Eastern Amr region as part of the governorate’s commitment to safeguarding the environment and preserving natural habitats in wilderness areas.

The primary objective is to organise the camping season while raising awareness among campers and visitors about the importance of protecting the environment. The campaign includes comprehensive cleaning activities across various camping sites throughout the wilderness season.

It also strives to enhance campers’ understanding of environmental preservation and the significance of safeguarding natural life in these pristine locations. This endeavor underscores the governorate’s dedication to fostering a sense of community partnership.

By actively engaging all relevant stakeholders and civil society organizations, the Southern Governorate aims to create social initiatives and awareness campaigns that contribute to the success of the wilderness season.
