Empowering blind women in the GCC through ‘Our Will is Life’

A beacon of hope shone brightly as the “Our Will is Life” initiative kicked off its second edition at The Gulf Hotel Bahrain. Led by the inspiring Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the AlMabarrah Al Khalifa Foundation, and in collaboration with the Friendship Society for the Blind, this remarkable programme offers a lifeline to 30 blind women and their companions from across the GCC nations.
Running until February 5, the series promises an environment of sisterhood and empowerment, providing workshops and classes focused on health, wellness, and life skills development.
This isn’t just about equipping these women with practical knowledge; it’s about forging a path towards equality and inclusion. The opening ceremony resonated with gratitude and determination.
Friendship Society for the Blind president Hussain Haider Al Hulaibi expressed his heartfelt appreciation for Her Highness’ unwavering support, acknowledging her dedication to creating a platform for women with visual disabilities to thrive within society. This second edition builds upon the programme’s core mission: fostering self-sufficiency and independence.
Through engaging workshops and seminars, participants will explore areas like time management, culinary skills, and holistic health practices, unlocking doors to greater efficiency and well-being.
Sharifa Abdullah Al Malki, Head of the Women and Children Committee, echoed the sentiment, thanking Her Highness for her instrumental role in bringing hope and love into the lives of these remarkable women. “Our Will is Life” is more than just a programme; it’s a testament to the indomitable spirit of blind women and the tireless efforts of those who champion their cause.
