Higher education institutions like the national university are playing a crucial role in advancing equal opportunities for women, according to MP Dr. Maryam AlDhaen. She commended the university’s recent conference, held under the patronage of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, for shedding light on this important issue.
Talking at the 7th Equal Opportunities Conference held in Manama, Dr. Al-Dhaen emphasized the need for collaboration between various stakeholders, including the Supreme Council for Women, to raise awareness and achieve true equality.
She praised the conference’s diverse participation, ranging from academics and specialists to representatives from government, businesses, and civil society organizations. The event was held in collaboration with Brunel University London, Ahliya University, and Tamkeen.
With high-quality research papers and renowned experts in attendance, the conference promises to be a valuable resource for advancing women’s empowerment in Bahrain. Dr. Al-Dhaen highlighted the importance of implementing the conference’s recommendations to ensure tangible progress towards equality and sustainable development.
This, she believes, will pave the way for further advancement of Bahraini women in all spheres of life. Minister of Tourism, Her Excellency Fatima Al Sairafi, visited the Reef Island, alongside Sarah Buhijji, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), as she explored the array of facilities on the strategically positioned island, which serves as a significant residential and commercial hub.
Featuring various housing options like villas, chalets, and buildings with breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf, Reef Island was highlighted as a crucial asset. Al Sairafi, expressed the ministry’s commitment to providing comprehensive support and resources for the private tourism sector. This includes backing integrated real estate ventures featuring tourist and recreational amenities like restaurants, hotels, resorts, and coastal areas.
