Hair donation camp in Bahrain successful

Sixty-eight people in Bahrain donated hair to cancer patients in need as part of World Cancer Day. Men, women, and children took part in the hair donation camp held at the KIMSHEALTH auditorium in Um Al Hassam on February 4.
The initiative was organised by Cancer Care Group Bahrain in cooperation with Bahrain Prathibha and Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH), under the theme ‘Close the Care Gap’. All donors were awarded a Certificate of Appreciation.
Awareness lectures were held by RBH doctors Dr. Alpay Yilmaz, Consultant in Gynecologic Oncology, and Dr. Venkatesh Mushani, Consultant in Medical and Hemato Oncology, to raise awareness on factors that can lead to cancer as well as symptoms and preventive measures.
More than 200 people attended the event, including MPs Abdulhakim Al Shino and Dr Mariam Al Dhain, Cancer Care Group Bahrain president Dr P V Cheriyan, Prathibha president Binu Mannil, Royal Bahrain Hospital president and KIMSHEALTH Medical Centre Chairman Ahmed Jawahery, KIMSHEALTH Group Chief Executive Officer Dr. Sheriff M. Sahadulla, and Regional Chief Operating Officer of Bahrain.
Dr. Ahmed AlRashid, KIMSHEALTH Hospital chief operating officer Tariq Najeeb, in addition to officials from the Bahrain Cancer Society and from the embassies for Thailand and Japan.
