Bahraini-American director Hala Matar set to premiere new film ‘Electra’ at prestigious festivals

Bahraini-American director Hala Matar is gearing up for the release of her latest cinematic venture into the world of feature films. Her new film, “Electra,” produced in Hollywood, is slated to premiere today at some of the most prestigious American festivals.
The film, produced by Yale Entertainment, led by Jordan Yale Levin and Jordan Beckerman, along with the Italian company Ring Film, spearheaded by Tommaso Bertani and Luke Cotafavi, promises to captivate audiences with its compelling storyline and talented cast.
In an exclusive interview with Al Ayam, Matar provided insights into the much-anticipated film, stating, “The story revolves around a journalist who travels to Rome for an interview with a renowned musician, only to be drawn into an unexpected invitation that sets off a thrilling adventure filled with mystery and surprises.”
Matar emphasised that “Electra” is more than just a journalistic journey; it delves into themes of danger and ambiguity, presenting viewers with a challenging puzzle to unravel.
The film features an ensemble cast, including Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova in the role of Francesca, a performance artist and friend of the musician Milo, portrayed by British actor Jack Farthing.
American director Daryl Wein takes on the role of Dylan, the journalist embarking on the transformative journey to Rome, accompanied by his partner Lucy, portrayed by British actress Abigail Cowen.
“Electra” promises to offer audiences a taste of Italy with its charming filming locations, while the diverse backgrounds of the actors add depth and richness to the narrative, elevating the overall cinematic experience.
