Bahrain to join global treaty on plant genetic resources

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa ratified and promulgated Law (2) of 2024, endorsing Bahrain’s accession to the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, following the approval of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives.
Under Article I, it has been approved that Bahrain acceedes to the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, which was adopted by the 31st Session of the Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, held in Rome on November 2, 2001, which is attached to this law.
His Majesty issued Royal Decree (18) of 2024, naming the administrative body and minister responsible for implementing the provisions of Law (22) of 2006 on the protection of copyright and neighbouring rights, based on the proposal of the Prime Minister, and following the approval of the Cabinet.
