Bahrain Tourism Minister in meeting with Secretary-General of UN Tourism

Bahrain Tourism Minister HE Fatima Al Sairafi underscored the kingdom's commitment to advancing the global tourism sector. She stressed the Kingdom's support for the United Nations Tourism Organization in order to accelerate the growth and recovery of the tourism sector and raise its performance rates at all levels. She emphasized this during a meeting with HE Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the UN Tourism.

This took place through the Minister’s participation in the official ceremony in Riyadh on the occasion of reaching 100 million domestic and international tourists in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the year 2023.

During the meeting, the Minister of Tourism provided a concise overview of Bahrain's notable accomplishments in the field of business tourism, conferences, leisure. She highlighted the substantial investments in the tourism and hospitality sector, underscoring the Kingdom's ongoing success within the framework of the Tourism Strategy 2022-2026.

Her Excellency underscored ongoing initiatives aimed at refining tourism infrastructure, raising environmental standards, and championing sustainability within Bahrain's tourism facilities. This strategic focus aims to position Bahrain as the destination of choice on the global tourism map, catering to visitors of varying ages, nationalities, and interests. The selection of "Manama" as the Gulf Tourism Capital for 2024 further accentuates this dedication, solidifying the city's status as a pivotal hub in the region's tourism landscape.

The discussion also delved into the Kingdom's preparations for hosting the ninth edition of the World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism 2024, the largest global event in the field of food tourism, and the Minister affirmed the tourism sector's readiness to ensure the event's high-quality organization. In addition to that, highlighting the hotel and hospitality sector's readiness to welcome participating delegations, promising exceptional tourism experiences during their stay, pointing out to the tourism and entertainment potential of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
