MP Dr. Hisham Al Asheeri has raised concerns about the inadequate safety measures at Riya district which is close to Diyar Al Muharraq’s entrance. He added that it currently has only one entrance and one traffic signal, leading to several accidents due to the absence of surveillance cameras. Dr. Al Ashaeri stated, “Everyone violates the red light.”

Furthermore, Dr. Al Asheeri pointed out that the district, which is home to numerous Bahraini families, has only one entrance, stating that whenever an event takes place in Diyar Al Muharraq, the adjacent traffic signal is closed, forcing residents to enter and exit through the same entrance.

He expressed his concerns, saying, “Efforts have been made to engage with various government entities to open an additional entrance for the district that is not linked to Diyar Al Muharraq, but rather an independent access point.

However, the Ministry of Works continues to claim that it is under consideration, despite the risks this entrance poses to lives.” The lack of proper infrastructure and safety measures, including the absence of surveillance cameras and limited access points, has contributed to repeated accidents and traffic violations in the area.

Residents and commuters have expressed frustration and called for urgent action to address these issues, emphasizing the importance of public safety. Dr. Al Asheeri’s concerns reflect the need for immediate attention from the relevant authorities to mitigate potential risks and ensure the safety of residents and visitors in the Riya District.

The installation of surveillance cameras and the establishment of an additional entrance would enhance traffic management, deter traffic violations, and improve overall road safety in the area.
