Municipal Affairs and Agriculture Minister Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak and Industry and Commerce Minister Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro inspected the Manama Central Market.

The visit aimed to assess ongoing development efforts and address the market's and its traders' needs.

During the inspection, Al-Mubarak emphasised his ministry's commitment to enhancing the market to better serve its visitors. He underscored the market’s significance as one of Bahrain’s largest and most vital trading hubs, playing a crucial role in food distribution across the kingdom.

The minister reviewed the progress of several projects within the market premises. Notable among them was the completion of a shading project for loading and unloading areas, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.

Additionally, progress was noted on the installation of electrical capacitors, expected to optimise energy consumption. Moreover, plans to replace the main canopy of the Haraj and Fish Market were discussed, aimed at improving tenant comfort and services.

Fakhro highlighted the Ministry of Industry and Commerce’s commitment to monitoring central market operations. He emphasised the ministry’s efforts in ensuring the smooth flow of food commodities, identifying obstacles, and addressing them to mitigate the rise in prices of essential goods.

He also confirmed merchants' readiness for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, with early imports of major commodities and an abundance of local products.
