Bahrain Deputy PM oversees key handover to citizens in Sitra City Housing Project

The Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa visited the East Sitra City Housing Project yesterday and witnessed the first batch of citizens receiving keys to their residential units, marking the city’s gradual operation.
During the inspection, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah inaugurated the second phase of the project, directing efforts to accelerate construction to ensure timely delivery of housing units. He expressed congratulations and blessings to the beneficiaries.
Accompanied by officials, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah emphasised the housing sector’s achievements under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s leadership, with 40,000 units provided and five housing cities built. He praised efforts to reduce housing wait times through public-private partnerships.
The Deputy Prime Minister also commended His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s emphasis on social housing in the government’s program (2023- 2026). The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, H.E. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, expressed gratitude for Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah’s support and highlighted the project’s significance amidst HM the King’s silver jubilee celebration.
Al Rumaihi noted the project’s integration of quality of life elements, including residential units, green spaces, and amenities, with the second phase adding educational, health, and commercial facilities. She announced a delivery timetable, aiming to hand over all units to beneficiaries by May 2024.
