AMU Alumni celebrates Sir Syed Day

The Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Bahrain (AMUAAB) celebrated the Founder’s Day of the University “Sir Syed Day 2015” on Friday at BAPCO Club, Awali. More than 200 members and guests attended the function. 

Discover Islam Bahrain chairman Ishaq Rashid Al Kooheji was the chief guest. Sir Syed Ahmed (1817-1898) was the great social reformer and Educationist of India.

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, who founded Aligarh Muslim University, was one of the most dynamic and resplendent personalities of the 19th century. As an educationist, scholar, theologian, social reformer, author and journalist, he contributed much to the resurgence of modern India. 

His Aligarh Movement and Muslim Educational Conference initiative left their imprints on the entire sub- continent. This great visionary and reformer was one of those early pioneers who recognised the critical role of education for the empowerment of the poor and backward Muslim community.
