Plans are swiftly advancing for establishing the Jidhafs Market at a new location, confirmed the Bahrain Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister, H.E. Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak.
He stated that the ministry has collaborated with relevant authorities to revitalise a previously owned municipal property in Jidhafs, along with adjacent properties, to create a new site for the Jidhafs Market project.
The new location will boast an urban façade and direct access, spanning approximately 4,880 square metres.
This information was disclosed in response to a parliamentary inquiry by MP Mahmoud Fardan.
"The proposed plan has been presented to the Capital Municipal Council for review.
The ministry is currently overseeing the completion of property registration procedures in its new status, and the property will soon be auctioned for the establishment, operation, and management of the market," the minister explained.
The project will encompass fish and meat stalls, commercial shops, cafes, and supporting services to cater to the needs of market visitors and area residents.
Furthermore, parking spaces are integrated into the project, and auction documents are being prepared to facilitate investment opportunities once property registration procedures are finalised.
In addition, the minister affirmed that the ministry is actively working on establishing parks, recreational areas, and walkways in the Sixth Constituency of the Capital Governorate.
