Bahrain expressed disappointment at the UN Security Council’s inability to pass a resolution granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people due to occupation, ongoing conflict, and dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza as reasons for the regret.

The ministry reiterated the Palestinian people’s right to international recognition and full UN membership, emphasising the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

This stance aligns with the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative, and relevant international resolutions. Bahrain emphasised that achieving Palestinian statehood is crucial for fostering just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the region, promoting freedom, justice, prosperity, security, and peaceful coexistence among all inhabitants.
