Celebrating womenhood

Information and Parliament Affairs Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi lauded the Kingdom’s respect for women’s rights and dignity, praising Bahraini women’s effective participation in the comprehensive economic and social development during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s prosperous era.

Patronising the walkathon and the “We Respect Her” Exhibition on combating domestic violence against women, organised by the Bahrain Youth Forum Society’s Naseem Initiative in Amwaj Islands, the Minister expressed pride in the achievements of the Bahraini women, and the protection of their rights within a framework of equal opportunities according to the Constitution, the advanced national legislation and laws that are compatible with international conventions.

Al Hammadi commended the efforts of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), led by Wife of His Majesty the King and SCW Chairwoman HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, to develop the legislative systems and the implementation of plans and programmes to empower Bahraini women, who, he said, make up one half of society and are the pillar of family stability, as well as economic and social progress, in line with the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.

The minister underscored the keenness of mass media and communication in supporting the National Strategy for the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence, launched recently marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, increasing awareness campaigns on enhancing gender equality and protection of women and children from all forms of violence, based the provisions of the Constitutions and national legislation. 

Naseem Initiative President Enas Al Farda expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Minister for patronising the social and humanitarian event. 

She also thanked MPs, Shura Council members, artists and civil society organisations for supporting and participating in sports and recreational events.
