The ninth edition of Manama Entrepreneurship Week (MEW) was inaugurated yesterday at the Gulf Convention Center, co-organized by the Labour Fund, Tamkeen, and over 20 other institutions. The opening ceremony welcomed dignitaries including the Minister of Industry and Commerce, H.E. Abdulla Adel Fakhro, Minister of Sustainable Development, Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, H.E. Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif.
Both ministers emphasised the government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship across various sectors, aligning with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 goals.
MEW 2024, themed “Smart Cities and Entrepreneurship,” runs until April 25th. Capital Governor Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa highlighted the event’s role in connecting entrepreneurs, investors, and young minds to share expertise and build partnerships. This year’s theme focuses on the crucial role entrepreneurs play in transforming cities into smart and sustainable environments through innovative technologies and collaboration with government entities, the Governor explained to The Daily Tribune.
A significant development at MEW 2024 was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between a global women's leaders network PLAYBOOK and the Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society, in collaboration with the Capital Governorate.
The week will be full of a variety of seminars and workshops conducted in partnership with prominent organizations like the Kuwait Finance House, BMMI, and the University of Bahrain. Participants can expect discussions on smart city solutions and how entrepreneurs can drive positive change in urban environments.
