Bahrain promotes ‘peace, openness and humanitarian initiatives’

The Interior Minister, His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, has emphasised that Bahrain’s approach is based on peace, openness and humanitarian initiatives.

He hailed the support to the initiatives by the royal vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

This came as General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah received yesterday Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, the British Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, United Nations and the Commonwealth.

Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, the Interior Ministry Undersecretary, and Alastair Long, the British Ambassador to Bahrain, were present.

Justice and human rights

The Interior Minister noted that the Kingdom has achieved a turning point in reinforcing justice and human rights, which has contributed to further strengthening social cohesion.

He highlighted the human rights and social accomplishments of the alternative sanctions project and the open prisons programmes, which come within the framework of the Interior Ministry’s security and social initiatives and programmes to promote community security.

General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah lauded the historical ties and robust partnership between Bahrain and the UK, highlighting the mutual commitment to continually develop them.

The meeting reviewed cooperation and coordination to promote joint action and exchange of expertise to address security challenges and promote regional stability.
