Holiday Season Passenger Advice from Bahrain International Airport

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA),  adviced all passengers travelling during this Holiday season (between late November 2015 and early January 2016), to arrive 3 hours prior to their flights departure as well as to utilize the new long term “overflow” car parks which have been designed to take the increase in passengers during high seasons. 

In addition to the existing long-term Car Parks “B”, “D”, “E” and “F”, Bahrain Airport Company opened a new overflow Car Park recently on the Galali Road to increase BIA’s existing parking capacity by 1300 spaces and accommodate the expected surge in passenger movement during the holiday period.

The new car park is located north of the runway and will be within the BIA premises, featuring a complimentary shuttle service to the terminal building every 30 minutes. Navigational directions will be available with the parking attendants who will be informing passengers of the new location.

BAC will increase the provision of shuttle buses between the Airport Car Parks and the Airport Terminal Building as well as the frequency of pick-ups and drop-offs for the shuttle buses to ensure efficiency and speed of service.

Passengers are requested to park their vehicles in the allocated BIA car parks and avoid leaving their cars on the side of the roads.

During this season, the car parks are expected to be highly congested in light of the previous announcement made in regards to the closure of BIA’s long term car park ‘C’ in preparation for the start of construction works on the new airport terminal.

Passengers who are intending to park their cars at the airport are advised to arrive early in order to find a suitable parking location. 

Passengers travelling during the various occasions and holidays are also advised to use the new airport express bus service available from Bahrain’s new public transportation system.

The BIA express bus service operates from the main terminals in Manama, Isa Town, and Muharraq and are fully equipped with high specifications that provides convenience and suit travelling passengers.

Travellers commuting through Bahrain International Airport will be able to enjoy a wide range of facilities including top-of-the-line lounges, numerous retail stores, and a wide selection of dinning outlets.
