The Council of Representatives is scheduled to convene today for an exceptional session aimed at addressing the remaining pending parliamentary work from the extensive nine-hour marathon session held last Tuesday.

This upcoming session will be crucial, as it will centre around vital discussions pertaining to the questions presented by MPs Hamad Al Doy and Jalila Alawi to His Excellency Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, the Minister of Industry and Commerce.

The inquiries primarily revolve around issues related to inactive commercial registrations, known colloquially as “Sijilat,” as well as inquiries around auditors and bookkeepers.

Rescheduling

The minister was unable to attend the previous session, necessitating his rescheduling for today’s session.

During this session, he is set to provide answers and clarification on the aforementioned matters.

Furthermore, the session shall be graced by the presence of His Excellency Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, to respond to the queries posed by MP Jalal Kadhem.

These inquiries are chiefly centred on the licensing procedures for public transportation, the criteria involved, and the concerns about Mumtalakat brought forth by MP Mahdi Alshowaikh.

Legislation

The session’s agenda also includes critical deliberations on proposed legislation.

Noteworthy discussions are scheduled to take place regarding the designation of Fasht Aljarim and Fasht AlAdhm as natural reserves.

Furthermore, the lower house will deliberate on a significant piece of legislation drafted by the Shura Council, which seeks to codify the legalities and prescribe the sanctions concerning the taboo of incest.

The session shall proceed to a discussion, followed by a ballot, on the recommendations by the Committee on Services regarding the legislation on the apportionment of time in accommodation units.
