Derasat hosts UN-civil society dialogue session

The Bahrain Center for Strategic International and Energy Studies (Derasat), in collaboration with the United Nations in Bahrain, co-organized a dialogue session between the United Nations and several civil society organizations.

The session took place at Derasat’s headquarters in Awali on Monday, 29 April 2024. This event served as a platform for consultations on the United Nations Sustainable Development Framework (UNSDCF).

The event was designed to encourage open discussions and foster collaboration between civil society and the United Nations on the UNSDCF 2025-2029 for Bahrain.

Participants were given an opportunity to express their opinions, contribute ideas, and discuss potential collaborations in support of sustainable development initiatives.

The event commenced with opening remarks from Mr. Khaled El-Mekwad, the United Nations’ Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Mr. El-Mekwad emphasized the importance of engaging civil society in the pursuit of the sustainable development goals and highlighted the significance of the event in strengthening partnerships between the United Nations and local organizations.

Dr. Hamad Ebrahim Al-Abdulla, Executive Director of Derasat Center, also delivered an address during the event.

He highlighted Derasat’s strategic partnership with various United Nations programs, emphasizing the Center’s commitment to actively contribute to the global sustainable development agenda.
