The Kingdom of Bahrain stands in solidarity with nations worldwide today to observe World Press Freedom Day, embracing this year’s theme, “Journalism for the Planet in the Face of the Environmental Crisis and Climate Change.”

Designated by UNESCO in 1993, May 3rd represents a collective acknowledgment of journalism’s indispensable role in shaping public consciousness and advocating for societal progress.

As nations unite to commemorate this occasion, Bahrain underscores its commitment to journalistic integrity and the pivotal role played by the media in national development.

Under the esteemed leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Kingdom champions the principles of press freedom enshrined in its constitution and National Action Charter.

Amid growing global environmental challenges, Bahrain reaffirms its dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable development. Aligning with international agendas, the Kingdom has implemented robust initiatives to combat environmental degradation and reduce carbon emissions, with a vision to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

Through collaborative efforts with international partners and the adoption of green city initiatives, Bahrain demonstrates its commitment to environmental preservation and the promotion of green technologies.

This steadfast commitment has earned Bahrain international acclaim as a trailblazer in sustainable development, epitomising the spirit of global cooperation and shared responsibility in addressing pressing environmental concerns.
