The Ministry of Health has reaffirmed that Bahrain remained free from local transmission of malaria since 1979, attributing this achievement to continuous efforts in combating the disease and its vectors dating back to the 1930s.

The World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared Bahrain malaria-free in 1981.

In response to recent discussions regarding monitoring mosquitoes that carry malaria and yellow fever, the Ministry clarified that, according to the national epidemiological investigation program, the Kingdom has not recorded any cases of Zika, yellow fever, or local transmission of dengue fever.

The program diligently monitors all disease cases in both government and private health institutions.

The Ministry emphasised ongoing coordination with governmental and private entities to educate citizens and residents on disease prevention methods.

It urged individuals to seek information from official sources to ensure the safety of society from infectious diseases and their vectors.
