More than 40,000 students yesterday took the second IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test across all government secondary schools and technical and vocational education schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
They underwent a comprehensive evaluation to gauge their proficiency in the English language.
The assessment comprises four main sections, each focusing on specific skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking English.
In preparation for this national-level evaluation, the Ministry of Education has diligently trained teachers to familiarise them with the intricacies of the test, enabling them to support students effectively.
It has distributed guidebooks and teaching resources to students and parents, incorporating elements of the test into new English textbooks at the secondary level.
To further aid students, the Ministry has curated approved sources and websites for training purposes.
This year, students in the first and second years of secondary school are included in the assessment, allowing for ongoing monitoring of their English language proficiency and knowledge.
The assessment presents an opportunity for students to identify areas for improvement and development, while the Ministry’s training initiatives aim to enhance students’ English language skills, preparing them for higher education or entry into the workforce. Results will be announced promptly following the completion of grading procedures.
