Bahrain is gearing up to establish a museum and pottery centre at the Dilmun Burial Mounds, aiming to preserve and celebrate the nation's rich cultural heritage.

This initiative has been set in motion with authorities announcing an ambitious tender to engage a consulting company for the design and supervision of the project.

Leading the charge is the creation of the Dilmun Burial Mounds Museum, a visionary endeavour that will not only showcase the historic Aali burial mounds but also highlight the broader legacy of the Dilmun civilisation.

Envisioned as a cultural hub, the museum is expected to attract visitors from around the world, offering immersive exhibits and cutting-edge displays that provide insights into Bahrain's ancient history, rituals, traditions, and innovations. But the project doesn't stop there.

To breathe new life into local craftsmanship and facilitate cultural exchange, the tender also includes plans for a Pottery Centre.

This centre aims to serve as a dynamic hub for artisans, residents, and tourists, leveraging the heritage of Aali Pottery to elevate Bahrain's cultural identity globally while fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and cross-cultural dialogue.

Additionally, the conservation plan outlined in the tender promises to enhance visitor experiences at the Royal Hills site through the development of pedestrian pathways and strategic linkages.

12 month contract

The tender issued by the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities offers a 12-month contract to the successful bidder.

Bidders are required to submit a BD100 bond before the closing date of June 23, 2024. Alternate bids are permitted, as stated by the tender board.

The initial bond must be in the form of a Certified Cheque, Bank Guarantee, Insurance Policy, or Cash, as specified in the Tender Documents.

Vendors who are not registered in the Tender Board's e-tendering system must complete registration.
