The Shura Council has discussed a diverse range of legislative activities during the second convening period of the sixth legislative term.

Throughout this period, a hefty agenda of 33 legislative items was tackled, comprising five decree-laws, 16 draft laws, and a solitary proposed statute.

Additionally, the convening period culminated with the council members directing a series of 42 well-considered questions to the ministers and poring over two final accounts.

The driving force behind these endeavours was to strengthen the legislative system to benefit the nation and its citizens.

The Shura Council, with unflagging vigour, continues to refine the corpus of legislation hand in glove with the executive branch.

This concerted endeavour seeks to propel the legislative machinery of the kingdom forward, to refine the institutional and juridical frameworks, and to spur on the economic and service sectors.

Ultimately, the Council’s work seeks to achieve the desired well-being for all citizens.

As conveyed by the General Secretariat of the Shura Council, the council accorded its assent to five proposed laws, which were subsequently forwarded to the lower house for further action.

Furthermore, a ledger of eleven draft laws was accorded approval for presentation to the government.

A duo of draft laws was remanded to the Council of Representatives; one draft law was rejected by both councils; and two draft laws were referred to the National Council.

Additionally, three draft laws are currently under examination by the Council of Representatives. Moreover, the Shura Council endorsed two reports on the final accounts and financial statements.

The Council’s Committee on Financial and Economic Affairs is presently engaged in the evaluation of a unified final account.
