Bahrain yesterday honoured the selfless heroes and heroines who epitomise the spirit of care and compassion on the International Day of Nurses.

Highlighting the stellar examples of Bahraini nursing excellence, the Kingdom proudly recalled that the first Gulf national to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing was a Bahraini.

Similarly, the first PhD in nursing within the Arabian Gulf was awarded to Dr. Fariba Al Durazi.

Moreover, the pioneering nurse practitioner in the Gulf was also a Bahraini, Fatima Al Zayani.

Dr. Jameela Jassim Mukhaimer, a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, remarked, “The achievements of Bahraini nurses are boundless, leaving an indelible imprint on the healthcare landscape.” Nursing, far from being a mere occupation, is the very cornerstone upon which any formidable health system is built.
