The General Directorate of Traffic has issued an advisory regarding vehicular circulation and necessary diversions for the upcoming Wednesday and Thursday.
The public is advised to find alternative routes to those that will be temporarily closed during the two-day summit. To manage traffic effectively during the 33rd Arab Summit, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain, certain roads shall be controlled during the morning and evening hours on 15 and 16 May.
Affected roads include: starting at Bahrain International Airport, the route encompasses Khalifa Al Kabeer Highway, passing through Al-Ghous Street, Sheikh Isa bin Salman Bridge, and proceeding along the King Faisal Highway, Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway, into the Seef District.
Traffic will then head south on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway towards Zallaq and the Sakhir Palace roundabout. To assure unimpeded traffic flow, a multitude of alternative conduits have been advocated for citizens and residents.
For those in the Southern and Northern Governorates, Jaber Al-Sabah Street, Sheikh Salman Highway, and Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Highway towards the capital are open.
Residents of the Capital Governorate can use Al Fateh Highway, Government Avenue, and the internal streets of the governorate.
In the Muharraq Governorate, alternatives include Khalifa Bin Salman Bridge, Dry Dock Highway, Arad Highway, Rayya Highway, Sheikh Salman Highway, and Sheikh Hamad Bridge.
Sheikh Hamad Bridge is available for residents of Busaiteen and surrounding areas. For those in Samaheej, Qalali, Al-Dair, Arad, and Al-Hidd, Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Bridge is a suitable alternative. These measures are expected to maintain orderly and uninterrupted vehicle flow.
When necessity dictates, closures of roads shall be enacted, with traffic police on hand to aid traffic movement and give priority to emergency and ambulance services.
The General Directorate of Traffic calls on road users to support this initiative by following the instructions and guidelines from traffic authorities for smooth traffic flow.
The directorate recommends limiting non-essential travel and staying informed with updates and announcements from the administration for the latest directions.
