Overseas expansion programme draws top firms

The Kingdom's business landscape is poised for a substantial uplift with the introduction of an innovative initiative aimed at nurturing the global expansion of local enterprises.

This initiative by Tamkeen is strategically position Bahrain as a launchpad for ambitious businesses seeking to extend their operations beyond national borders.

This forward-thinking endeavour, outlined in a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by Bahrain's authorities, seeks to engage a business development consultant to lead and implement an Overseas Expansion Support Programme.

Notably, the project has garnered interest from four reputable companies, including Ernst & Young Middle East, Arthur D Little (Bahrain), Spring VS Consultancy, Tawaref Al Khair, Iconic Advisory, and Astrolabs DMCC.

Bid values ranging from BHD 375,000.000 to BHD 7,344,707.700, demonstrating the significance and competitiveness of the initiative.

The Programme is tailored to provide targeted assistance to startups, scaleups, micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as large enterprises based in Bahrain.

Specifically, it aims to support businesses that have yet to venture beyond Bahrain's borders but demonstrate the potential and ambition for international expansion.

Aligned with Bahrain's vision to become a regional hub for entrepreneurship and innovation, the Overseas Expansion Support Programme will offer bespoke guidance, resources, and strategic support to eligible enterprises.

Through this initiative, Bahrain seeks to empower local businesses to capitalise on international growth opportunities and establish a foothold in global markets.

The RFP delineates the programme’s scope, underscoring the importance of identifying and nurturing promising Bahrain-based enterprises poised for international expansion.
