World Tour on Handicap Motor Bike

B.V Narayana, a 55-year-old  Bengaluru-based professional vehicle-modifier for the handicapped people, who himself met with an accident and became partial handicapped, reached Bahrain as part of his world tour. 

He is on a mission to raise awareness about the causes of preventable disabilities and to spread awareness on ‘not to become handicapped’. B.V Narayana who is an ex-cyclist   is presently on an expedition covering 25 countries and a distance of around 35000 kilometers. On his onward tour, he is travelling across Oman, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain ,Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Belgium, London, USA  and Canada ,while the return tour will be taken via USA, London, France and Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Libiya, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Pakistan and India.

He has also travelled around the world on cycle in 1979 and 1980 covering 59 countries and 90,000 kilometers  in a campaign intended to promote peace and organ donation.   Using that experiences, he is on a mission to travel around the world on his handicapped motorbike to spread awareness on how not to become a handicap. 

Narayana will cover  25 countries on his modified bike within a time frame of six months. B.V Narayana visited Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam(BKS) yesterday and interacted with the members.

 ‘ I met an accident and became a minor handicapped person myself. Based on my own experience as a disabled person, I have decided to carry a strong message around the world, not to get discouraged and helpless as a handicapped person, ' he said. 

His new expedition is on a 10-year old motorbike that he had custom-made to be disabled-friendly after he suffered a limp due an accident four years back. 'After I suffered the disability, I wanted to raise awareness about it and want people to take measures that will stop physical disabilities,’ he said. 

He is carrying banners in different languages that urge people to vaccinate children against polio, follow traffic rules, avoid drink driving and letting children drive motor vehicles until they are licensed and avoid consanguineous marriages. 'If people are a bit more careful, we can prevent many disabilities.

I will be happy if a few people from thousands that I am going to meet will change for good and save themselves, their children and others,'he said. From Bahrain he will be travelling to Kuwait via Saudi Arabia.
