Celebrating 50 years of growing diplomatic relations

The Malaysian Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia, is hosting the Malaysian Film Festival to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The festival will showcase three diverse and award-winning films that represent the richness of Malaysian culture.

The screenings will take place at the Bahrain National Museum Auditorium from 29th to 31st May, with each film starting at 6.30pm and ending at 8pm.

The films selected for the festival are:

Boboiboy Movie 2 (2019): A Malaysian Malay-language animated superhero comedy film directed by Nizam Razak.

This family-friendly film follows the adventures of Boboiboy, a young boy who can split himself into three elemental-powered heroes.

Ola Bola (2016): A Malaysian Malay-language sports drama film directed by Chiu Keng Guan.

This critically acclaimed film tells the story of the Malaysian national football team’s journey to the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

Guang (2019): A Malaysian Mandarin-language drama film directed by Quek Shio Chuan.

This award-winning film explores the complex relationship between a young man with autism and his father.

Vibrancy and diversity of This film festival offers a unique opportunity for audiences in Bahrain to experience the vibrancy and diversity of Malaysian cinema.
