A medical committee tasked by the court to assess the mental state of a Bahraini man accused of causing the death of a cold store worker during a robbery has determined that he is responsible for his actions.

The High Criminal Court has set a hearing date for May 27th for the defense to present their arguments, following the receipt of the medical report.

The report indicated that the defendant suffers from personality disorder associated with his history of drug abuse, but he is still held accountable for his actions.

It’s worth citing that the incident had occurred when the suspect allegedly assaulted a cold store worker while he was trying to flee the scene, inflicting injuries that led to the victim’s death days later in hospital.

In a police complaint, the deceased’s brother said the accused was a regular customer at the shop where he and the deceased worked, with a history of purchasing without payment.

On the day in question, he attacked the victim after stealing items, fleeing and leaving him critically hurt.

An eyewitness told police the alive brother appeared frightened, finding his sibling collapsed outside the store.

The injured worker was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his wounds.

Security camera footage from a nearby home shows the defendant striking the victim in the face, causing him to fall unconscious on the ground.

Criminal records uncovered past thefts and assaults by the man at other shops.
