Five members of parliament have submitted a proposal requesting the allocation of a fishing harbor for fishermen at the Al Ghous beach between Shaikh Hamad bin Isa and Shaikh Isa bin Salman Causeways, and at the fourth causeway that will connect Muharraq and Manama.
The explanatory memorandum of the proposal stated that the sailors of the first constituency in Muharraq, whether professional or amateur, need a permanent coast for them to practice the fishing profession.
This can be achieved by establishing a developed and model marine harbor that can accommodate most of them at the Al Ghous beach between Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa Causeways, as well as at the causeway that will connect Muharraq and Manama from the north.
The proposal was submitted by MPs Mohammed Rafeeq Al Hussaini, Khalid Buanaq, Hisham Al Awadhi, and Mohammed Al Alaiwi.
The memorandum indicated that the harbor will solve the problem of parking for ships and marine vehicles, protect the sailors’ boats and their contents from theft or tampering by unknown persons, as well as organise work instead of the randomness and fears experienced by fishermen, especially since the Muharraq Governorate is witnessing a large expansion.
