Bahrain airport’s passenger traffic surges in April

The Bahrain International Airport has registered a substantial rise in passenger traffic last month. The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication reported that the airport serviced 747,964 passengers, showing a marked increase from April of the previous year.
The airport recorded over 375,000 arrivals and more than 372,000 departures, signalling a recovery in travel activities.
Abu Dhabi and Sharjah topped the list of destinations, with passenger figures soaring past 71,000, a 37% increase from the previous April.
Muscat followed with a 36% increase at over 16,000 passengers. Riyadh and Kuwait City also showed growth, with over 50,000 and 31,000 passengers, respectively, notching up increases of 33% and 17%.
The airport managed 7,950 aircraft movements and handled over 39,000 transiting aircraft during the month.
Air freight In terms of air freight, the airport processed over 11,000 tons of incoming cargo and dispatched over 6,000 tons, indicating sustained activity in this sector.
The heightened travel demand in April was partly due to the Eid al-Fitr holiday, reflecting the airport’s ability to facilitate travel during peak times and its role in supporting the resurgence of the travel and tourism industry in Bahrain.
The Ministry’s statistics affirm the airport’s growing importance as a central hub for regional travel and cargo.
