Bahrain joined a wave of international condemnation yesterday over a strike that Gaza officials said killed 45 people when it set off a fire that ripped through a tent city for displaced Palestinians.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned and denounced the Israeli forces’ action.
The Kingdom renewed its call to the international community, particularly the members of the United Nations Security Council, to fulfill their responsibilities in enforcing international resolutions and international humanitarian law.
This includes the immediate, permanent, and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the protection of innocent civilians.
The Kingdom emphasised the urgent need to increase the flow of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, ensuring it is delivered in a safe and complete manner.
This call highlights the dire humanitarian situation and the necessity for a swift response to alleviate the suffering of the people in the region.
It stressed the importance of creating a secure environment conducive to reviving the just and comprehensive peace process.
This involves ensuring that the brotherly Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights to establish an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Israel said it was looking into the “tragic accident” and its impact on civilians after the latest mass casualty event in the Gaza war which has raged since October 7.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the attack, saying that it “killed scores of innocent civilians who were only seeking shelter from this deadly conflict.”
