The Supreme Criminal Court of Appeal has begun examining the appeal of a 29-year-old Bahraini teacher who was convicted and sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting his students.

The teacher was previously sentenced to five years in prison for sexually assaulting one of his students off-campus, and an additional 10-year sentence for assaulting another student.

The court has postponed the next hearing in the appeal to June 9th.

The initial case came to light after the Public Prosecution received a report from the Northern Governorate Police Directorate about the teacher sexually assaulting a seven-year-old student off-campus.

The victim’s father reported that the teacher had touched the child inappropriately while the two were at a mall’s parking lot.

Upon investigation, the teacher confessed to the assault, and forensic evidence corroborated the victim’s account.

He was then referred to the High Criminal Court and convicted of sexual assault under aggravating circumstances, which carries a potential life sentence.

Report Simultaneously, the Public Prosecution received another report about the same teacher sexually assaulting another one of his students.

The second victim also confirmed the teacher had touched him inappropriately in multiple locations.

Further investigation revealed that the teacher had sexually assaulted four other students from the same school, using similar methods of inappropriate touching and groping.

However, these incidents had not been previously reported to authorities.

The teacher was found guilty and sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison for the multiple counts of sexual assault against his students.

He has now appealed the rulings, and the High Appeals Court is set to continue hearing the case on June 9th.
