HM King endorses global maritime agreement

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday ratified and promulgated Law (4) of 2024 endorsing the agreement signed by the Kingdom of Bahrain to the 1965 Convention for the Facilitation of International Maritime Navigation (FAL), following the approval of the Shura Council and the Representatives Council.

Under Article l, the joining of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Convention for the Facilitation of International Maritime Navigation (FAL), adopted in London on 9 April 1965, annexed to this law, has been approved with the following reservation: For the purposes of application of criterion (1.4) of subsection (A) of Section (4) of the Annex to the Convention, the Kingdom of Bahrain would not be bound by the application of the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Status of Refugees 1951 and the United Nations Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees 1967.

HM the King issued Decree (50) of 2024, restructuring the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), based on a proposal by the Prime Minister, and following the approval of the Cabinet.

Under Article I, the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) shall be restructured as follows: Hasan Khalifa Al Jalahma, chairperson; Chief Executive of Bahrain Economic Development Board, member; Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), member: Undersecretary for Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, member; Chief Executive of the National Center for Financial Investigation at the Ministry of Interior, member; Ahmed Mohammed Buheji, member; and Amaal Ahmed Al Abbasi, member.

His Majesty issued Royal Decree (53) of 2024, appointing an assistant undersecretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), based on the proposal of the Prime Minister, and following the approval of the Cabinet.

According to the decree, Hussain Ali Mansour Al Shehab was appointed as Assistant Undersecretary at the PMO. The term of membership on the Board shall be four years, renewable for a similar period.
