Homes under scrutiny: Ministry launches inspections after deadly fire

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has announced a comprehensive safety inspection campaign in the wake of a devastating fire earlier this month that claimed four lives and injured dozens in Al Lawzi.
The initiative, which will span three months, aims to scrutinise residential apartments across Bahrain’s various governorates.
The task force, consisting of experts from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, the Electricity and Water Authority, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, the General Administration of Civil Defence, and Eskan Bank, will focus on the safety of electrical connections, main transformers, and load pressures in these buildings. Residents are urged to fully cooperate with the inspection team.
The scrutiny will ensure that all electrical connections conform to the standards prescribed by the Electricity and Water Authority, particularly where residents have affected modifications or additions.
