Capital Municipality Responds to 1,500 Damage Reports After Heavy Rainfall

In the wake of recent heavy rainfall in Bahrain, the Capital Municipality has received approximately 1,500 reports of damage, including water accumulation, insect infestations, and mosquito proliferation. To address these concerns, the municipality has deployed eight inspectors, nine pumps, and 13 tankers across various areas of the Capital Governorate.

During a recent meeting, the Capital Municipal Council reviewed the efforts undertaken in response to the rainfall and the resulting issues. Yusuf Al Bannai, Head of the Cleaning Department in the Capital Municipality, provided a detailed report on the areas addressed and the extent of the efforts exerted.

According to Al Bannai, the Capital Municipality has removed 3,062 loads of debris from 193 locations. The eighth constituency (Sitra) witnessed the most significant intervention, accounting for 21% of the total requests received by the municipality. The tenth constituency (Isa Town, Sanad, A'ali, and Nuwaidrat) followed closely with 17%.

The areas most affected by the rainfall were Sitra Abu Al Aish (Block 607), Sitra Markhoban (Block 605), and Ma'ameer (Block 633). The least affected area was Sanabis (Block 406).

Mohammed Al Sahli, Director General of the Capital Municipality, commended the efforts of the Cleaning Department and acknowledged the contributions of all relevant entities that participated in the response efforts.

He noted that while numerous areas have been addressed, challenges remain in draining water from private land plots that have been excavated by their owners, resulting in water accumulation and mosquito breeding.
