A bold initiative to tackle unemployment, led by MP Mohammed Janahi, was launched yesterday. This independent effort aims to unite dozens of Bahrain’s leading companies, offering numerous job opportunities across different sectors.

“The objective is to create practical job opportunities for job-seekers in diverse fields,” Janahi explained. “This initiative will provide a platform for companies to connect with potential employees and for job-seekers to explore new opportunities.”

The initiative will culminate in an employment fair on Saturday, 8 June 2024, from 9am to 4pm, at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Manama. Representatives from participating firms will be present to receive CVs, conduct preliminary interviews, and engage with job-seekers. Janahi encouraged all interested individuals, including experienced professionals seeking better opportunities, university graduates, and unemployed individuals without university degrees, to attend the event.

Undertaking

He emphasised the involvement of the Ministry of Labour in this national undertaking. Marwa Radwan of the Think Smart Institute, a partner in the venture, remarked that approximately 40 companies are currently participating, with the possibility of more joining.

The initiative aspires to facilitate 300 job placements and provide training services, some of which are fully supported by the government’s Tamkeen programme.

Job prospects

Ali Makki, the owner of Business Hub and another principal partner, affirmed that the project is exclusively directed at unemployed Bahraini citizens seeking enhanced job prospects.

He highlighted the social responsibility of business owners to take part in such endeavours. This new employment initiative offers considerable promise for addressing unemployment in Bahrain. By bringing together companies and job-seekers, providing training opportunities, and collaborating with government entities, the initiative holds the potential to have a significant impact on the lives of many Bahraini citizens.
