Bahrain is poised to enthral the world at Expo Osaka next year with a magnificent display of its maritime heritage and its strategic importance as the Gulf’s gateway.

As it prepares for its fourth global Expo appearance, the Kingdom is set to offer an unforgettable exploration of its rich history and future aspirations, highlighting its maritime traditions and key geographical position. This participation follows Bahrain’s previous appearances at Expo Shanghai 2010, Milan 2015, and Expo 2020 Dubai.

The national pavilion, conceived by the Lebanese-French architect Lina Ghotmeh, will showcase Bahrain’s enduring connection to the sea, a relationship that dates back to the Dilmun civilisation. The pavilion’s design, drawing inspiration from traditional Bahraini ships, will reimagine the Kingdom’s heritage of industry and craftsmanship.

Opportunity

Bahrain aims to be at the forefront of creative, sustainable solutions. Expo Osaka provides a significant opportunity for the Kingdom to demonstrate its capabilities, culture, and approaches to addressing global challenges.

The interior design and exhibition, put together by Bahraini design studio “Shepard,” will offer an interactive and immersive experience. Visitors will explore Bahrain’s maritime culture, as well as its logistical and natural resources.

Additionally, the pavilion will include a business area designed to promote Bahrain’s competitive standing both regionally and globally, presenting it as an inviting environment for future economic ventures and a prime destination for investment and commerce.

Innovation

Expo Osaka 2025, set to run from 13 April to 13 October 2025, will centre around the theme “Innovating the future to improve the lives of communities.” The organisers anticipate over 28 million visitors, with participation from 150 countries.

The Expo will offer a unique chance for global exchange and dialogue, with each pavilion dedicating a national day to celebrate its cultural and civilisational contributions.
