The 16th Gulf Radio and Television Festival concluded on a high note yesterday, with Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Minister of Information, in attendance.

The event was held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Chairman of the General Sports Authority.

This year’s festival saw the largest participation in its history, featuring 360 radio, television, digital, and advertising works, alongside 70 dramatic television works from Gulf and Arab countries.

Majri Mubarak Al Qahtani, Director-General of the Gulf Radio and Television Organisation (GRTO), was also present.

The Minister highlighted the launch of the inaugural Al Dana Drama Award, under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad.

The Minister then honoured Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, former Minister of Information, and Dr. Abdulrahman Mohammed Bahar, former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, for their contributions to the festival’s success in previous sessions.

Eighteen nominees from member states and members of the judging committee were also honoured.

The ceremony featured folklore, traditional music, and a performance by Khalifa Al Jumairi.

The heads of GCC countries’ delegations honoured the winners of the Sail awards in the gold and silver divisions for radio and television categories, including organisations, members, the private sector, short films, and digital media. Bahrain won 13 awards.
