The Kingdom of Bahrain has joined the global commemoration of World No Tobacco Day on May 31 each year, underscoring its commitment to raising awareness about the detrimental effects of tobacco use.

Aligned with the ongoing advocacy by the World Health Organization (WHO), the occasion serves as a platform to bolster community consciousness and foster collaborative endeavors aimed at combating smoking, curbing its prevalence, and facilitating cessation efforts.

Within the realm of healthcare, Bahrain has made significant strides in tobacco control initiatives as part of its overarching goal of ensuring universal health coverage.

The Ministry of Health has spearheaded various preventive measures in compliance with international tobacco control agreements, prioritising the well-being of the nation’s youth who represent the future demographic.

These efforts are pivotal in advancing societal development while safeguarding public health.

The National Committee for Combating Smoking and Tobacco of All Kinds and Products assumes a proactive role in formulating strategic plans and initiatives to engage community stakeholders and heighten awareness regarding the hazards associated with smoking.

By promoting educational campaigns and advocating for cessation support, the committee endeavors to confront the scourge of tobacco consumption and its adverse health ramifications.

Through concerted endeavors, Bahrain remains steadfast in its commitment to preserving the well-being of its citizens and fostering a tobacco-free society.
