King’ visit to China marks 35 years of ties and boosts economic cooperation

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s state visit to China marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Bahrain and China, reaffirming their commitment to economic cooperation and mutual prosperity.

Basim Al Saie, of the Bahrain Chamber’s Bureau, highlighted China’s global influence and the significance of His Majesty’s visit following the 33rd Arab Summit in Bahrain.

He noted the Arab region’s potential for prosperity due to its resources, location, and human capital, despite political conflicts like the Palestinian issue hindering development.

Sonia Janahi, Bahrain Chamber board member, expressed pride in the economic ties between Bahrain and China, citing a 2.18 billion US dollars non-oil trade exchange in 2023, with China as Bahrain’s top trade partner.

She emphasized the complementary nature of Bahrain’s service economy and China’s industrial base, noting opportunities in AI and technology for further cooperation.

Board member Nawaf Khalid Al Zayani also expressed optimism about the growing business relations, highlighting the Bahraini private sector’s eagerness to enhance the exchange of information and expertise with China.
